A Very Special Bridal Shower

As I posted earlier, last month I planned and hosted my sister’s bridal shower! I haven’t talked much about her before, but my sister is 3 years older than me and she’s getting married NEXT MONTH! I’m pretty excited about it, and I’m glad I was able to pull together a shower that was befitting for her.

The venue that I chose was a beautiful event center located in Augusta, MO called Sunflower Hill Farm. While it’s primarily a wedding venue, the staff was more than accommodating and helpful in planning and preparing for the shower.

Is that not a gorgeous setting? Our shower was held in the back of the front building and the room was amazing! The back wall is comprised of big sliding glass doors that open onto a patio surround by beautiful landscaping. There are also large doors on either side that can be rolled up to let in the breeze and create a larger room feel. Carla, who was the event coordinator that I worked with, was amazingly helpful at putting together a lovely lunch menu, as well as setting up a wine and mimosa bar, and providing an excellent fruit and cheese spread for an appetizer and crafting a great selection of desserts to choose from.

My mom and I found the cutest little succelent plants to use as decorations and as favors for the guests who attended. We found both the plants and the wraps on Etsy, from a shop called Natural Succulents. They arrived in perfect condition and super fresh looking.

So many people came out to celebrate my sister and shower her with tons of beautiful and meaningful gifts. One particularly sentimental gift was a hankie that one of our great aunts had made, that my mom gifted to my sister with the sweetest poem. It definitely brought tears to many eyes in the room. I also got to do a trial run for a part of my maid of honor speech, and it got good reception, so that is always a plus, lol!

Overall, it was a beautiful day at a gorgeous venue and I’m so glad that I have a sister to share all these moments with! Only a little over a month until she says “I do!”
