I was reading a post about tattoos today and it inspired me to write my own post about tattoos.
Currently I have seven. 3 butterflies, 1 lizard, stars, a devil, and a sun. I plan on getting AT LEAST four more. I have them planned out in my head, but I haven’t had a chance to put any of it on paper yet…
Some people think that if you have ink, no matter what it is, you’re a hoodlum. Or a gangster. Or some kind of horrible motorcycle-riding, drug addicted, stealer of things, never going to amount to anything loser. But if you met me on the street, you would never know that I had seven tattoos, and they aren’t small ones by any means.
I don’t run around and flaunt any of tattoos, but I don’t always have them completely covered up either. The ones that mainly show are the ones on my feet and the butterfly on the inside of my wrist. But just because I have tattoos doesn’t make me a bad person. I’ll even admit, there are some people out there with tattoos that when I see them, I immediately judge them based on the ink they have showing. The guy with the nazi symbols and white power inked everywhere? Yeah, probably not going to be my best friend. But it’s his skin, and even though I don’t agree with his opinions or way of life, it’s his right to decorate himself as he sees fit.
Something that a friend of mine said once. Her nephew had gotten a tattoo, and his uncle said to him, “Don’t you know your body is a temple?”
He replied with, “Even churches have stained-glass windows.”
