Ingredients
- Tilapia
- 1/2 Cup Whiskey
- 3/4 Cup packed Brown Sugar
- 1 Stick Butter, divided
This is a super-quick and delicious dinner for when you’re in a hurry.
Melt a little less than half the butter in a pan over high heat. Place fish in the pan and allow to cook almost completely, turning to make sure it doesn’t burn (it helps if you have a long spatula, to keep the fish from breaking apart during handling). Remove fish to a plate and set aside.
Carefully pour the whiskey into the pan. *Use extreme caution especially if you are working around an open flame!* Next, reduce heat to medium and add in the rest of the butter. After the butter has melted almost completely, sprinkle in the brown sugar. Take care to stir until all lumps are dissolved and everything is well combined.
Allow the glaze to begin bubbling, then add the tilapia back in and continue cooking until throughly done. When tilapia is done, it flakes very easily with a fork.
*Note- if you feel your glaze is a little on the sweet side, add some salt to your fish before returning it the pan. This will help counteract and balance the sweetness of the brown sugar.
I like to serve this with a rice side, or you could do a nice salad with it as well. If you’re feeling especially indulgent, you can drizzle a little more glaze over your fish before you eat it!
i will have to try this with bourbon 🙂
it was good a little sweet next time less brown sugar and maybe some heat to baleance the sweet
