Where the heck did my weekend go?
I thought I’d had a new recipe to share with y’all today, but I didn’t think it tasted very good, and since I thought that, it wasn’t worth sharing yet. I don’t want to share something crappy with you! I need to keep my three dedicated readers!
I did however suffer a debilitating injury (read: small burn) on my chest in the name of new food searching, though. I had attempt to make BBQ Chicken calzones. Sound delicious right? Not so much. It was missing a lot, so the recipe needs to be tweaked and redefined. But as I was attempting to enjoy mine, some of the 500 degree hot filling dripped out and land on my chest. Left boob area to be exact (no I wasn’t eating topless, I just had on a tank top). I thought I wiped it up fast enough with my shirt, but apparently when you cook something at a temperature that makes the sun look like the polar ice caps, blisters happen in nano seconds. And now it hurts, and itches, and looks super gross. Boo!
I did not run this weekend. My knee has been bothering me, and I wanted to give it a break to risk a potentially serious injury. Hopefully, I can make it out the door tonight, and put in at least 3 miles. So that’s my goal for tonight. I also downloaded a new work “dvd” via Amazon Instant Movies (or something along those lines), that I am looking forward to getting into after my half marathon. It’s the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown series. I’m hoping to get into that, maybe cut back on running a little bit, and start strength training/cross training after the half in two weeks.
That’s right. Two fucking weeks away.
What the hell was I think all those days I was being a lazy shit head?
Oh well…here goes nothing I suppose. Cross your fingers for me!
In other weekend news, D’s third birthday was a blast (for him). As aunt I became the dedicated nerf gun “cocker” (sounds dirty…is not.). After which resulted in two three year old boys shooting the little sticky darts at the ceiling, and then laughing like it was the most hilarious thing in the world when they feel down. Ahh to be so easily entertained for so long by something so simple.
Saturday I had lunch with my BFLT (Happy Birthday BFLT!) at the BWW, and then I headed out to pick up my new glasses. That’s right y’all, with my new glasses and contacts, I can now see and not have to slam on my breaks when approaching road signs to read them! Yay! I do like my new glasses quite a bit, though. The frames are Tiffany & Co. and very stylish.
Sunday I made lemon meringue pie, and of course my BBQ chicken calzones. And basically spent the day being a slight bum. I napped (delightful!) and cleaned (
delightful!). I did finally get to watch “Sucker Punch”. And I must say, I did enjoy it quite a bit. It doesn’t end quite the way you’re expecting. I loved the soundtrack so much that I went on iTunes, and bought it. There are several songs that will make excellent running tunes, and I already put them on my newly formed running playlist.
So that’s all I have for you guys today. Nothing thrilling and exciting, unless you count the boob burn. Just me being me I suppose 😉
