Keep Your Heads Up

So, I know I haven’t posted in a while, partly because I’ve been super busy with tax season wrapping up and by the time I remembered I hadn’t posted, it was just too late and I was too tired. Then Monday happened. And I haven’t been able to think of anything to write.

I couldn’t believe it when I read about the bombing. I had just gotten done watching/following the live blogging and video feeds showing the elite women’s race, and had stepped away from my computer and when I came back there was the horrible news. Three people have lost their lives and countless other have had their lives changed forever. It’s really hard to wrap your head around it all.

I’ve been following the news stories and am praying for the victims, their families and the city of Boston. I’m also hoping that there is a party who is responsible for this to be found soon. As tragic as it all is, I have to hear why they chose the Boston Marathon. What reasoning is behind it all?

Seeing the running community, and even non-runners, come together makes my heart happy. It inspires me, and makes me have a little more faith in humanity.

I just want to tell everyone out there, runners and non-runners alike, keep your head up. Don’t let this one act of violence scare you away from running. Don’t let it force you into hiding. Stand up tall and strong and look it right in the eye. Tell it, “You won’t hold me back. I’ve got miles to go, places to see, and a spirit to carry me through.”
