5 Goals for May

on

Ok, so I realize that a) it’s May for crying out loud, where the hell did the first four months of my year go, and b) not only is it May, but damn near the second week of May.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to you too!

I was checking out the Freshly Pressed section this afternoon and I read Angela’s blog Eat, Spin, Run, Repeat and I noticed how she sets 5 goals for herself each month. And I thought, after yesterday’s  post, I could probably use that technique.

I’ve tried goal-setting in the past, but my biggest issues are procrastination and lack of motivation. Basically, I’m the only thing standing in my way.

So, here we go, my 5 Goals for May…

1) Run AT LEAST 3 times a week

This is what my training plan currently details for the month of May anyways, I just need to commit and stick to it. I really want to do well  my at my half in October, and I certainly need to get in *much* better shape.

2) Core and Arm Workouts

This is another biggie. I used to be so active all the time, and now that I spend the majority of my day sitting (boo!), I really need to find ways to sneak this into my day. Running will do a lot for my lower body, but I know I will need to add in something down the road. My core and upper body however need some serious help.

3) Be more responsible financially

My biggest task here is going to be actually keeping track of everything. I do really good for the first part of the week, then I slack off a little, and then bam! Dealing with possible overdraft charges, etc. So keeping track and not spending as much on fast food this month as well are the main parts of this goal.

4) Get the house CLEAN & ORGANIZED

I really slacked the first three months this year in this department, because of working the two jobs, and I’m really finding it hard to get back on track. My closet is a disaster area, as well as most of the rest of the house. I need to buckle down and get everything organized and cleaned up properly.

5) Drink 1 glass of water before every meal

Sorry Angela! Not only did you inspire me with the goals, but your goal of drinking a glass of water before each meal is something else I need to accomplish. I definitely drink WAY too much soda, so I need to cut back there as well. I might look into different flavor options, or just flavor with lemon, but either way, I need to start drinking more water.

So around the beginning of June I will review what my goals were, and grade myself on how well I did at stick too/reaching/following the goals/plans.

Fingers crossed!

  1. I’m so glad I inspired you to set some monthly goals! Yours look great and I think can manage them for sure. The whole house being organized thing is one that I’ve been working on for the pat couple of months (I took on the project of my room in March and the kitchen in April) and I feel so much better now! Good luck with your running too. That’s great that you’ve got a half marathon coming up! Feel free to check out the workouts on my blog if you’re looking for some different training runs. Thanks for stopping by my blog today! 🙂
