And I think my debit card might be melting…
I don’t know if I ever talked about it at all, but I had a plan. A Christmas shopping plan that included buying a present or so a month so that I could have everything done before the craziness set in. Not like I do every year and wait until I have my bonuses and run around trying to get something for everyone on my list.
That WAS the plan, at least.
Did not happen. I just couldn’t get my shit together for the life of me. (Common theme of the year, perhaps?)
So basically, I’ve been spending a ton trying to get gifts for folks and I’ve bought myself a few little things here and there ;). I don’t usually spend too much on myself, but since I had the extra funds, I decided it was worth it. Now I just have to try to keep my extra funds alive!
On Friday, I ordered some stuff from Best Buy and then picked it up at the store later that evening after Margarita Friday. I also went over to the Fleet Feet and got some new running shoes and a pair of YurBuds to try out. I will definitely let you know how I like them. Then it was a quick stop at my parents and then off to home and bed!
Saturday, I got up early and made my list to go grocery and gift shopping. I of course wound up spending way to freaking much at Target-but I didn’t buy anything that I didn’t really need or wouldn’t use. But Target just sucks me right in.
Then I headed to the real grocery store (Dierberg’s) and spent a ton of cash there as well. But I haven’t been to the grocery shop in FOREVER so I felt somewhat justified. Then off to the meat market and home to put it all away. AND then, off to the in-laws for cookie day. I only made one type of cookie, using a cake mix and sticking a caramel in the middle, but they made tons of cookies. Then I headed over to a family friend’s house, where they were also having cookie day, and shooting guns. I was getting ready to leave when the sheriff’s department showed up, because a crotchety neighbor called. So after finally getting home and taking a record shower, M and I headed to my work dinner.
Which was kind of a bust. The only thing that was really good was the cheesecake they had for dessert. There were no appetizers, they were out of a ton of the drinks for the bar and actually had to go to the grocery store to buy some more, and the food was sub-par. Usually it’s pretty good stuff. But this year, just not to great.
We didn’t stay for too long, but we were both pretty tired.
Sunday I was up fairly early again, and went to cook breakfast for M and the boys since they were manning the firehouse. I made a breakfast crescent that I found on Pinterest, and it was pretty good. I also made my hash browns and even though they were a little greasy, they were pretty tasty as well. Then I headed home, threw everything in the crock pot for the beef soup that I made, and headed out to do a few more errands. I bought my stocking stuffers, and the gift for my sister in law’s husband. Now, just have to figure out what I am going to do for other folks, and we will call it square!
I’ll do a post on all the stuff I bought myself (shoes, etc) so in case anyone is looking for a new shoe or last-minute gift ideas for the ladies of their lives (or if those said ladies want to drop some last-minute hints), you might find one here!
