Running, Running

on

Monday night I stopped off and got my allergy shots. I think that they are working, I don’t know if it is too early to tell yet or not. But I did forget to get my allergy medicine filled so I went without for a week and wasn’t horribly miserable so I’m going to say that they appear to be doing their job. I suppose.

The worst part of the whole shots isn’t getting stuck with the needles, it’s the 30 minutes wait after. I understand why you have to wait 30 minutes, I do. But it still stinks when there are other places you’d like to be.

Once I was done with my 30 minute wait, I got checked out and hurried to my car to grab my bag with my running stuff in it. I did a quick change in one of the building’s bathrooms and then headed to the Katy Trail to put in my 3 miles I had on the schedule.

It was really humid and I don’t know what I’m going to do once it gets even more humid and hotter during the summer! I guess I will figure out a way around it I suppose. Or figure out how to run through it. I definitely need to get my handheld water bottle together because I felt a little dehydrated on this run. I managed to stay pretty consistent with my first two-mile splits (15:58) and then the third mile got a little strugglefest. I clocked that one 16:40 looking at my Garmin’s info. All in all I was fairly happy with the run, even though it sucked pretty good at the end.

I took yesterday evening off, with plans to work on the house work a bit. That didn’t really happen other than doing some laundry. Tonight I think I have either speed work or a tempo run on the schedule (that you know, I really haven’t been following), which I plan on doing as soon as I get home. I’m looking forward to the Zoo 5k coming up not this weekend but next. I don’t think a PR is in the plans for me at this race, but I am curious to look at my times and see what the differences are between all of them and at least better my time from last year’s race.

I don’t know if I mentioned here on the blog, but we all know my weight is a struggle for me. I’ve been working on making a better effort to eat more healthy and exercise a bit more, which was a definite struggle at the beginning of the year with tax season, various illnesses, and then general lack of motivation. BUT, I did manage to lose 10 pounds and keep them off over the course of those three months. April wasn’t such a fantastic month workout wise and eating wise, but I’m doing alright so far this month. I took all my measurements and everything at the beginning of the month and I hope to see some kind of change come June. I will try to keep you all updated on my progress!
